2015 Planeta Etna Rosso

A limpid wine that needs time to unwind

2015 Planeta Etna Rosso DOC

Produced by the Feudi di Mezzo winery in Castiglione di Sicilia, this wine is 100 percent Nerello Mascalese sourced from the Torreguarino and Pietramarina vineyards. The grapes were barrel fermented and the wine aged six months in barriques. It needs quite a bit of air, but on Day Two its limpid robes opened to reveal brambly fruits with a streak of wild fennel and tea. Modest tannins and crisp red fruits keynoted the mid-palate, while the finish was blue-floral. Pair it with cured meats, game, meaty fish, cheese, anything with garlic.

  1. Hi Anne,
Yes, I committed it to a decanter for a period, tasted, and then re-bottled and tasted again the following day. If you get your hands on this wine soon, give it at least an hour of air before service.
    Cheers,
    Meg
