A party mix of grapes grown in Macari’s estate vineyard on Long Island: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The vine age averages 22 years, and soils are sandy loam with clay.
The robe is a peachy light salmon color, and the body offers a fresh, almost grassy fragrance adorned with pineapple, peach, and honeydew. The palate has nice heft but is also a little spritzy, sparkled with flavors of yellow peaches, honey, and green plums; uber-ripe strawberry flares at the finish. Not heavy or too-too, it offers good freshness, and I especially appreciate its low alcohol.
Pair it with young cow’s and goat’s milk cheeses, fish, salads, and other raw fare. Also good with roasted chicken and fish.
