2015 Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuissé

“Uncomplicated...”

2015 Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuissé AOP

Chardonnay grown in its native habitat—in this case the clay and chalk of the Mâconnais—can be light-textured despite the classical winemaking treatment, viz., full malolactic fermentation and barrel aging.

Duboeuf’s young Pouilly-Fuissé is pale yellow with a scent of steel oiled with lemon, and the body, too, has a sour lemon, green melon quality cooled by sharp herbs. There’s also a flintiness, a light grassiness, plus a refreshing cultured cream or crème fraîche sourness.

Unencumbered and uncomplicated. Pair it with poultry, fish, medium-aged cheeses.
