I’m pleased to announce that Maker’s Table has been awarded Best Writing on a Wine Blog in the 2015 Wine Blog Awards.

Now in their ninth year, the awards highlight the best self-published writing about wine online. Judges select finalists from among hundreds of nominated sites, then the results are put to a popular vote. To win Best Writing, a site must consistently deliver wine writing that excels in voice, style, entertainment, and insight.

My article, Wines of the Week: Fruit, Flower, Structure, Texture, Mystery, was also a finalist in 2015 for Best Blog Post of the Year. My writing previously earned finalist status for Best Writing in 2013, and for Blog Post of the Year in 2012.

It’s a great honor to have won, and I offer sincere gratitude to the organizers, the judges, and everyone who voted in support of my site’s candidacy. Thank you.

I also want to thank my fellow nominees, those colleagues who pour nearly limitless energy into writing about this beautiful and complicated subject, Wine. The competition is stiff and includes many friends, all of whom deserve attention and praise.

During the open voting period, I was encouraged to see my site receiving visitors who had clicked through from the Awards pages, then taken time to read my nominated post and explore the rest of the site, too. It’s a safe bet the other nominees enjoyed the same lift.

That’s good news, because it means the Awards are fulfilling a worthy mission: to ensure good wine writing gets read.
